MAVEN HOSPITAL DASHBOARD
About this project
As a participant at Maven Hospital Challenge, I’ll play the role of an Analytics Consultant for Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). I’ve been asked to build a high-level KPI report for the executive team, based on a subset of patient records. The purpose of the report is to give stakeholders visibility into the hospital’s recent performance.
Synthetic data on ~1k patients of the hospital from 2011-2022, including information on patient demographics, insurance coverage, and medical encounters & procedures.
Data Analysis & Insights:
My dashboard include three tabs:
- Overview: show overview metrics, include

- Total patient: 974
- Total vist: ~ 28k
- Average length of stay: 7 hours
- Distribution between Male & Female is nearly the same
- Encounters by Location: Boston has the highest number of encounters, followed by Weymouth.
- The most busy hour is 4PM on Sunday and 9PM on Wed
- % Revisit increased gradually by year although it dropped slightly in 2021
- Procedure: Shows the insights related to procedure

- Average procedure cost: $2.21K
- Average Length of procedure: 0.55 hour
- The most used procedure is Assessment of heath and social care needs while the most expensive procedure is Admit to ICU – Average procedure per encounter : around 3
3. Payer:

- Nearly 50% of cost is No-Insurance
- The payer coverage: 30.6%
- The highest coverage payer is Medicaid, follow by Dual Eligible
- Wellness class has the biggest coverage rate by payer.
